We’re all familiar with the traditional type of floss. However, there are several types of regular floss. There is:

  • Waxed

waxed

can be easier to slide between closely spaced teeth

  • Unwaxed/ Fine floss

unwaxed

This floss will squeak against cleaned teeth, indicating plaque has been removed.

  • Tape

tape

Its wider may be a better choice for people with bridgework. Dental tape also is recommended when people have wider-than-average space between their teeth.

  • Expanded

expanded

This type of floss that has fibers that expand slightly when you get in between the teeth. These can be great for grabbing more plaque.

  • Super floss/ Ortho floss

super

Orthodontic floss that provides a solution for cleaning between braces, bridges, and wide gaps.

So which type should you use? I would say one to use the one that is most comfortable for you. If it goes easily between your teeth, that’s the right thickness for you.
